In early 2008, under the watchful eye of Dr. Timothy Seelig, a chorus of volunteers from throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex assembled for its first concert on the fifth anniversary of the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom. This concert was a call to peace for the DFW community. The Voices of Peace concert drew Dr. Maya Angelou to Dallas to be the keynote speaker for the event. After the resounding success of this event it became clear that this chorus had a purpose, a mission, and a vision that could not be ignored.
Soon afterward, a group of 10 people gathered in a conference room to plan for the chorus that would soon become Resounding Harmony. With a framework laid, invitations were sent out to local choruses, churches, and social groups looking for singers to join the chorus. The first rehearsal of Resounding Harmony was expected to draw about a hundred singers. To the delight and amazement of the organization’s founders, the first rehearsal brought in one hundred and seventy-five enthusiastic people that wanted to join this group. The rest is history.
Resounding Harmony’s unique mission is built on the theory of musical philanthropy. To date Resounding harmony has donated almost $175,000 to our beneficiaries.
